The School History

North Stanly High School was established in 1962.  The land consisted of 28 acres purchased from Burt Mauney of New London. The school opened without a finished football field.  The first principal was Robert Norris Jeffrey.  The football field is named after him. The first  boys' basketball coach and baseball coach was Joe Kelly.  The baseball field is named after him.  Boyce Caudle was the first girls' basketball coach.  Paul Hollingsworth was the first football coach.  He had the winningest team at North Stanly with a 9-1 record.  The maximum student capacity was 900, housing grades 9-12.

Over the years, classrooms, a vocational building, mobile units, a field house, a softball field, an animal barn, and tennis courts have been added.  Recently, renovations were completed to the school auditorium and to the baseball field.  In addition, buildings to house the men and women's soccer teams and the baseball team have enhanced our sports program.
